Everton are resigned to losing Dominic Calvert-Lewin at the end of June after he rejected multiple new contract offers, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what sources have told him about Calvert-Lewin‘s long-running talks over a new deal.

Everton have long since been in deadlock with their number nine, while clubs like Newcastle have previously expressed interest in signing Calvert-Lewin.

Football Insider revealed on 9 May that Everton had renewed hope that Calvert-Lewin would pen a new contract before his current deal expires, but with 30 June on the horizon, that now looks highly unlikely.

Sources have now told Football Insider that with no breakthrough in sight, Calvert-Lewin will leave Everton at the end of June, and any indications that he would sign a new deal passed a long time ago.

Calvert-Lewin has already explored his options on the market as he prepares to become a free agent, and Football Insider sources have said that Everton will now turn to a long list of new striker targets.

Everton ready to move on from Calvert-Lewin saga

Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider in April that Newcastle would renege on their potential contract offer for the injury-prone Calvert-Lewin, with his future set to be in limbo.

Speaking on the new Inside Track, O’Rourke said that scenario now looks far more likely than Calvert-Lewin signing an extension at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, and Everton are set to lose him for nothing.

“There’s no major update, but the longer is drags on, it looks like Calvert-Lewin will be moving on from Everton”, he told Football Insider.

“If he was going to stay, you’d think that contract would have been sorted by now, and Calvert-Lewin has probably explored his options as a free agent.

“Everton have a host of striker targets, so they’re ready to move on from Calvert-Lewin… and will have bringing in some support for Beto next season on their [transfer] list.”

Beto set to spearhead new-look Everton attack

With Calvert-Lewin set for the exit door and Armando Broja one of four Everton loanees who will return to their parent clubs this summer, Beto will stand alone among first-team options up front for David Moyes.

Everton have confirmed the permanent signing of Carlos Alcaraz from Flamengo, but a vast overhaul of signings is needed if the Toffees’ first season at the Hill Dickinson Stadium is to be a successful one.

Beto has been linked with a move to newly-promoted Leeds this summer, but with no other options in attack and Everton’s approach for Aleksandar Mitrovic likely to be rebuffed, it’s increasingly clear that a new number nine is needed.
