Lille defender Thomas Meunier has admitted his dream to play for Manchester United, which is so strong he’d cycle to the club. It’s not the first time he’s spoken of his love for the club, doing so [when linked back in 2019.](https://sportwitness.co.uk/defender-flirts-joining-beautiful-man-united-happy-linked-exceptional-red-devils/)
[Gazet van Antwerpen](https://www.gva.be/) have an interview with the defender today in which he discusses his career, including the one step he’s yet to make: to Manchester United.
The full-back has never truly been out of the transfer news, with almost every summer seeing him linked with a move since around 2018, when he really came to prominence.
He’s regularly been linked with a move to Manchester United in those ears, largely because he’s openly admitted to his love for the club and a desire to join them. For example, back in 2022, he admitted that he simply couldn’t turn down Manchester United if they ever came calling.
That’s never happened for the 33-year-old, who has instead moved around Europe, playing for Club Brugge, Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund, Trabzonspor and now Lille.
At this point a move to Manchester United doesn’t seem likely to happen, but if it were, he admits he’d be happy to cycle himself to Old Trafford to push it through.
_“If they ever ask me, I’ll cycle there. (laughs),”_ he said.
_“But maybe it’s better this way. Suppose I play there and have a bad time. I wouldn’t want to hate Manchester United, because I love that club so much._
_“I went to watch them a few weeks ago, against Bilbao. In with the fans, singing, à fond (fully). Je suis un vrai. (I am a real one). I go to watch them at least once every season._
_“But of all the home games I’ve seen in all those years, they’ve only won two. You have to have a self cruelty side to be a United supporter, right?”_
