Manchester United are poised to make an improved bid of £60m for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo.
But United bosses will tell Brentford it will be their final offer for the Cameroon international. United had an initial bid of £55m - £45m plus £10m in add-ons – rejected by Brentford earlier this week.
Brentford value Mbeumo around the £60m mark and are not prepared to sell him on the cheap. Now United will test Brentford's resolve to keep Mbeumo with a fresh offer of £55m, plus £5m in bonuses.
United are hoping their improved bid will be accepted by the London club, and allow them to complete the signing of the 25-year-old.
Mbeumo has told Brentford he wants to go to United and urged his club to strike a deal. He has agreed personal terms with United on a five-year deal, with the option of an extra 12 months.

The only stumbling block is the fee for Mbeumo, who would be United's second signing of the summer following the £62.5m arrival of Matheus Cunha from Wolves.
United boss Ruben Amorim is desperate to improve his attacking options and strengthen his squad.
His side managed just 44 goals in the Premier League last season - the second lowest of a non-relegated side. Mbeumo scored 20 goals for Brentford last season, as well as providing eight assists.
United missed out on a Champions League place for next season and up to £100m in extra revenue - after losing the Europa League final to Tottenham in Bilbao.
But the absence of European football next season has not put-off the likes of Cunha and Mbeumo from wanting to join United.
United will raise the revenue for their summer sales with a clear-out of their existing squad, with Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho all set to leave.
United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is banking on raising around £150m from sales this summer, to add to the existing transfer budget of the same amount.
