‘On his way’: Everton target set to join Roberto De Zerbi’s Marseille - Fabrizio Romano

Everton might have to be quicker this window if they want to land their targets, as a few players have already slipped through their fingers.

With a busy summer ahead of them, Everton are already losing out on their prime targets.

The priority this summer was to try and convince Liam Delap to make the move to Bramley-Moore Dock, but the striker opted for a move to Chelsea.

Delap wants to win trophies and doesn’t feel like he can achieve this with a move to Everton, and you can’t really blame him with a 30-year drought to their name.

One Englishman has rejected Everton, and now another will be doing the same, as David Moyes won’t be happy.

Roberto De Zerbi set to sign Everton target Angel Gomes

The Friedkins will be hoping they have some form of pull this summer with an exciting project ahead.

But this isn’t looking to be the case with targets dropping off left and right.

To make matters worse, they could lose Jarrad Branthwaite to Chelsea, but the silver lining could be that it heightens their £100m budget.

Well, something that wouldn’t have affected this budget was the signing of free agent Angel Gomes, who David Moyes loves.

Gomes confirmed he was leaving Lille, which piqued the interest of Everton, but it turns out he won’t be leaving France at all.

In a major blow for Everton, Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Gomes has reached a ‘verbal agreement’ for the signing of the 24-year-old England international as the midfielder will be playing under former Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi.

Everton fans will be left disappointed after Gomes news

The news that Gomes won’t make the move to Bramley-Moore Dock will be devastating for fans.

Gomes impressed in France, which rightfully earned him a call-up to England’s senior squad under Lee Carsley.

His acquisition would’ve made for brilliant business with not a single penny spent, as Everton fans couldn’t believe their links with Gomes.

But frustratingly, the trend continues of missing out on players in the early window, and for Moyes’ sake, he hopes this doesn’t develop into the theme of the summer.
