Brighton and Hove Albion are refusing to give in to Nottingham Forest in the fight for Botafogo’s Cuiabano.
That’s [according to O Globo](https://oglobo.globo.com/esportes/futebol/botafogo/noticia/2025/06/05/brighton-segue-na-briga-pela-contratacao-de-cuiabano-que-ainda-nao-assinou-com-nottingham-forest.ghtml) who report that Brighton are set to make a new bid for the defender after seeing two offers already rejected.
The newspaper reports that Cuiabano’s future after the Club World Cup remains uncertain, with the left-back very much in the Premier League’s sights.
He has interest from Brighton and Nottingham Forest, but neither side has yet formalised an agreement for him. There is also no indication this will come in the coming days.
Reports had made it clear that Cuiabano was part of a triple deal with Nottingham Forest, but O Globo insist that has not happened yet. Even despite the player openly admitting he wants the move.
Botafogo owner John Textor has been personally negotiating the sale, as he did with Igor Jesus, who has already signed for Nottingham Forest, and Jai, who is also close to making the same move.
Brighton, though, are ‘very insistent’ on getting Cuiabano and have already seen two bids rejected for him. One was worth €5m plus €2m in bonuses, the second was €3m in bonuses. The Brazilian club value the player at €10-12m.
Whether the Seagulls go that high remains to be seen but they’re refusing to give up just yet in the tug of war with Nottingham Forest.
