Ryan Clark Says Steelers Are In The ‘Worst Case Scenario’

The Pittsburgh Steelers just made a move that some people have expected for months.

They finally pulled the trigger on Aaron Rodgers, adding the veteran QB to a roster that was in desperate need of a new starter.

Fans and analysts alike have given mixed reviews to this news, which has ranged from excitement to disappointment.

ESPN analyst Ryan Clark seems to find himself closer to that second camp, wondering if this was the best move for the Steelers.

As he mentioned in a recent X post, Clark is curious to see what Rodgers can do with his new teammates, but believes this move was done a few years too late.

“If you told me you were gonna pair one of this era’s greatest coaches with one of this era’s greatest quarterbacks, I’d expect greatness. That is not what we’ll get. Maybe six years ago, but not now,” Clark said.

Aaron Rodgers signing with the Steelers is the worse case scenario. I think he’ll play good enough, & the team will be just good enough to miss out on a franchise guy next year! One of the greatest players of the era, & one of its greatest head coaches… just years too late.… pic.twitter.com/Py46A0N0M2

Clark did indicate that Rodgers has been one of the best quarterbacks in the league for years, but might be too past his prime to be an extreme difference-maker for this organization.

The Steelers have been one of the most consistent teams in the NFL during Mike Tomlin’s coaching regime, and they’ve struggled to find a quarterback to replace Ben Roethlisberger.

Rodgers could provide that for a year or two, or as long as he can still perform in this league, but it might not be enough time for the Steelers to make a significant run.

The AFC is tough enough as it is with teams like the Kansas City Chiefs, Cincinnati Bengals, Baltimore Ravens, and Buffalo Bills, so the Steelers will already have their work cut out for them.

Will Clark’s suspicions come through?

Or will Rodgers turn back the clock and get back to his MVP ways?
