Bills must do whatever it takes to avoid biggest nightmare scenario in 2025

The [Buffalo Bills](https://buffalowdown.com/bills-dominance-might-cost-multiple-coaches-their-jobs-this-season-01jwrh5yrbp1) are a true powerhouse and championship contender in the NFL, but they still have to reach a Super Bowl with Josh Allen under center. The reigning MVP is too talented to not atleast make an appearance in the biggest game of the season and we all know that he’s not the reason why the Bills haven’t been able to win the AFC.

The defense has been the issue all along and that’s why Brandon Beane opted to focus on building up the unit for games like in the playoffs so that Allen and the offense don’t need to carry the team every single time.

Since the 2020-2021 season, the Bills have been eliminated by the Chiefs in the playoffs. Once by more than once score, and three times in a one-score game. The most painful loss was the infamous “13 seconds” game where the Chiefs managed to come back being down by three points with 13 seconds left in regulation but still managing to get into field goal range to force overtime. Then of course, we all know what happened in overtime, but we won’t talk about that.

Last season, the Chiefs and Bills once again met in the AFC championship game and Buffalo came up short at the end, listing 32-29 after questionable calls by the refs that gave the Chiefs the chance to close out the Bills. The nightmare continued for the Bills after that loss.

Bills' 2025 nightmare is no different than the last couple of seasons

[Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/25202006-describing-every-nfl-teams-nightmare-2025-season-1-sentence-or-less) listed the biggest nightmare scenario for each team heading into this season and Buffalo’s is quite obvious; losing to the Chiefs once again in the playoffs. Here's what Gagnon said about the Bills' biggest nightmare scenario:

> "Considering it's happened four times in the last five years, another playoff loss to the Chiefs likely qualifies here. "

> Brad Gagnon, Bleacher Report

I can see it now…the Bills and Chiefs are set to face off in the playoffs (no matter what round it is) and in this highly anticipated matchup, all that Bills fans will see leading up to it is the nonstop highlights of the Chiefs beating the Bills in previous postseason games. Then, in a close game that comes down to the wire, the Chiefs make just one more better play that puts them ahead of the Bills. That would then be five of the last six seasons where the Chiefs have eliminated the Bills from the postseason.

If that nightmare happens once again, there has to be a major change somewhere in the Bills’ organization. I’m not sure where it would be, but that is completely unheard of. Losing to the same team over and over and over in the playoffs.

The Bills have lost to the Chiefs in a blowout, in one-score games, and both in Kansas City and Buffalo. There’s no other scenario to list of which the Bills can beat the Chiefs. At this point, Buffalo just needs to hope that they don’t run into Kansas City in the playoffs.
