Everton need attacking reinforcements this transfer window, and Matt O’Riley could emerge as an ideal candidate.
The Brighton midfielder has struggled to adapt to Premier League life under Fabian Hurzeler.
His £25m move from Celtic in the summer hasn’t gone to plan, and the Dane might already be searching for his next destination.
Everton are looking at O’Riley as the ‘absolutely phenomenal’ midfielder could reignite the spark he’s missing under David Moyes.
Fans have called O’Riley a ‘dream signing’, but how likely is a deal this summer? Well, reliable journalist Alan Myers has revealed all.

What Alan Myers is being told about Matt O’Riley to Everton
The 24-year-old saw a resurgence in his last few games, as the midfielder even grabbed a goal on the last day away at Tottenham.
But that doesn’t exactly make up for his game time, with 21 appearances made this season.

Most of this is due to injury, but maybe a fresh start might be good for O’Riley, who has to compete with the likes of Georginio Rutter.
At Celtic, Brendan Rodgers said O’Riley could play for any team, which could be a useful tool to Moyes.
But after speaking to the All Together Now podcast, Myers has made something very clear.
“My understanding is that it’s not going to happen,” Myers said.
“I don’t even know whether there is interest there, that’s what I’m told.”

Moyes should listen to Ange Postecoglou about Everton target Matt O’Riley
With Myers suggesting that O’Riley isn’t on The Friedkins’ radar whatsoever, Moyes should look to change that.
Although it hasn’t been a year of brilliance since leaving Celtic in the summer, O’Riley had 37 goal contributions in all competitions for the Scottish giants in the season before he left.
This is what Everton are screaming out for, as they need to emulate the likes of Ross Barkley in his prime, with that number ten spot lacking, as O’Riley could fill that void.
Former Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou said O’Riley wants to ‘better himself’ and by joining Everton, it opens a door to freedom without competition.
Even though Myers stresses interest isn’t there, this soon needs to be made a reality.
