Report: Bayern Munich identify Man Utd player for£59m marquee move, it could force Erik ten Hag's hand

Manchester United needed a big summer, and things are shaping up exactly this way.

After finishing 15th in the Premier League, an overhaul was always needed at Old Trafford.

Already, Manchester United have agreed to sign Matheus Cunha in a deal that will cost the club £20.8m per year over the next three summers.

In addition to the Wolves forward, United are closing in on Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, with a second offer for the Cameroonian expected to be in the region of £60m.

This sees Ruben Amorim’s starting attack look remarkably more impressive, but the club will now want to complete several big-money sales to allow further investment in other positions.

Now, there are encouraging signs of one big sale getting done.

Now, Bayern Munich has joined the fray.

This is according to Sport 1 in Germany, which claims that the Bundesliga champions have between £42m and £59m to spend this summer on one single player, before mentioning that this could end up being Antony.

The report adds that Bayern have already made contact with Antony’s representatives, and have the funds to pay United’s asking price, which puts all other interested clubs at a disadvantage.

Erik ten Hag’s hands could be forced in Antony hunt at Bayer Leverkusen

Clubs around Europe are clamouring for Antony, with Atletico Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen joining Bayern in the hunt.

Erik ten Hag will be driving Leverkusen’s interest, as he looks to find a way to replace the attacking outlet that will leave when Florian Wirtz’s move to Liverpool goes through.

United will know Leverkusen have lots of cash to spend, and therefore, with Bayern having as much as £59m to offer, it could push Ten Hag and his club into also considering offers of a similar magnitude to replace the £109m Wirtz.

So if Leverkusen want Antony, it may take a bidding war to do so, which will delight United.
