Over the course of several decades, we have seen many Manchester United players who moved abroad return to England and the promised land of the Premier League.

Some have been met with delight, some with reflection, some even with disappointment.

But, some Manchester United players who have gone abroad have never returned to England choosing instead to end their careers away from England.

One of the most famous examples of this is David Beckham, who recently received a knighthood. When Beckham left United, he went to Real Madrid before ending his career at PSG.

Now, it has been reported that former Manchester United player Angel Gomes has decided to go against a return to England following offers from both Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United.

Gomes, who came through the Manchester United youth system, played for the Red Devils 5 times before leaving the club to move to Lille.

Now, it looks likely that Gomes will move away from Lille. However, it will not to England but instead France as it looks increasingly likely that the 24 year old will move to Marseille, according to these reports.

During his time with Lille, Gomes has played 105 games across the course of 5 years scoring 4 goals in this time period.

The prospect of Gomes re-joining Manchester United also looked likely for a large period with the midfielder even commenting on the matter last year.

However, the prospects of this happening now look as unlikely as ever following this update.

However, with Gomes searching for a new club, the prospect of a Manchester United return or a return to England can not be ruled out with the correct circumstances, a return to England could become more possible than it currently looks right now.
