Federico Chiesa has spoken openly on what is going to occur with his future at Liverpool FC.
The 27-year-old, who joined from Juventus for £12.5 million in 2024, managed just 104 Premier League minutes across six substitute appearances and only four starts in all competitions.
His limited involvement under Arne Slot has sparked speculation about a summer exit, with AC Milan, Napoli, and a potential Juventus reunion all floated as destinations
Chiesa’s struggles stemmed from a disrupted preseason. Frozen out at Juventus, he trained individually for months, arriving at Liverpool without match sharpness.
Recurring illnesses further delayed his integration, limiting him to sporadic substitute appearances. Slot emphasized the difficulty of reintroducing a player lacking rhythm into a congested fixture list.
Despite contributing to Liverpool’s Premier League title win, Chiesa’s role was largely ceremonial—he played just 33 league minutes during the title run-in and earned his medal via revised allocation rules.
Arne Slot showed during 2024/25 that he was not a manager that chopped and changed his line-up, and some of Liverpool’s more fringe players suffered as a result.
Now speaking in an interview with Corriere dello Sport, the 27-year-old has admitted that he could still see himself as a Liverpool player next season and will sit down with the club “soon”:
“The year is over. But it’s an experience I would do again,” says the 27-year-old.
“Soon I will sit down at the table with the club, Fali (Ramadani, his agent) and my family to find the best solution. I wouldn’t mind staying in Liverpool at all.”
He also admitted that the move to Anfield was difficult at first, a new country but also a top team that was very hard to breach into:
“In the first few months there was no shortage of difficulties, if you think that I arrived in Liverpool on 26 August and found myself catapulted to another planet, with other teammates, without having trained with them, but with a coach, zero friendlies, nothing… And, if you remember, in the autumn Liverpool were three times as good as the others, a crazy intensity.”
Chiesa will want to see regular playing time to revive his career and reclaim a spot in Italy’s national team ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Should he get a proper pre-season with Liverpool this time around, perhaps he will be able to impose himself more on starting XI spot in 2025/26.
