Chelsea receive Victor Osimhen transfer update as'contract proposal sent'

Chelsea have been informed that Galatasaray have reportedly sent a contract proposal to Napoli centre-forward Victor Osimhen amid speculation over the future of the Nigerian striker.

The Blues first attempted to sign Osimhen last summer in a transfer saga that dominated the near entirety of the window. Eventually, a move was not completed with the striker rejecting a switch to the Saudi Pro League and time running out for Chelsea to complete the transfer.

With most options exhausted, Galatasaray took advantage of the situation and signed Osimhen to a season-long loan deal to allow him an escape from Naples. In Istanbul, the 26-year-old excelled and managed to bag 37 goals in all competitions for the club.

Now, with the summer transfer window reopening, Osimhen is keen to get his future sorted and a number of teams have been linked with his services. Chelsea and Manchester United have been credited with interest from the Premier League but it is Galatasaray who seem to be leading the way.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Osimhen has been sent a contract proposal by the Turkish club in a bid to convince him to join. Al Hilal have also offered a deal to the striker but a move to the Saudi Pro League still does not entice the forward, it seems.

Osimhen is understood to have not accepted the proposal by the Saudi club and on Thursday evening Romano added that a move to the Middle East is not something that the striker is looking to entertain. While Chelsea have signed Liam Delap already this summer, they remain in the market for another forward.

Chelsea may feel that they can gazump Galatasaray and Al Hilal by offering Osimhen a challenge in a better division. But, at present, it seems unclear where the Nigerian star sees his future or whether Chelsea will return to the table for him this summer.
