The Cleveland Browns currently have quarterbacks Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel, Shedeur Sanders on their roster, and according to offensive coordinator Tommy Reese, he could see all of them winning the job. As the old saying goes, if you have two quarterbacks, you have none — so what does it mean when you have four?

Rees, 33 years old, was hired by the Browns in February 2024 as a tight ends coach and passing game specialist. A year later, he was promoted to offensive coordinator, a massive step up for a coach his age. Unfortunately for Rees, however, due to the Browns’ draft strategy, he now finds himself at the center of the NFL’s most interesting, and therefore most buzz-worthy, QB competition.

In the Browns’ quarterback room, you’ll find: 40-year-old former Super Bowl winner Joe Flacco, former first round pick Kenny Pickett (whom the Browns traded for earlier this year), and the two rookies, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders, who is the reason for all the attention being paid to the Browns’ starting QB situation (which is also partially why all 31 other NFL team passed on him).

“You can see them all winning the job, I think, right? And so in terms of the competition, we’re so early in the process. We’re so early in evaluating that. Yeah, I think, you know, we have a good group of guys that continue to push one another, and by the time September rolls around, we’ll be ready to go,” Reese told the media earlier this week.

Heading into the 2025 NFL Draft, Shedeur Sanders was expected to be taken in either the late first or second round, but was ultimately taken by the Cleveland Browns in the 5th Round of the NFL Draft (144th overall).
