Leny Yoro asked to describe Ruben Amorim’s ‘serious’ Man Utd player in one word, his pick is nothing short of perfect

Leny Yoro has raved about a “top” first-team Manchester United player that he has played alongside at Old Trafford under Red Devils manager Ruben Amorim.

Ruben Amorim’s men signed off their woeful 2024-25 Premier League campaign in May before Manchester United took part in a two-match post-season tour of Asia.

Following the end of the post-season tour last month, Amorim is now overhauling his United first-team squad after the summer transfer window opened in June.

The 40-year-old United manager has already seen one major acquisition this summer, with United signing Matheus Cunha from Wolves for a £62.5m fee.

Amorim is also expected to have a major clearout of his United squad, with the likes of Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Antony expected to be sold this summer.

United are without several players at Old Trafford and some first-team Red Devils stars, such as Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro, are currently on international duty.

What Leny Yoro had to say on Man Utd captain Bruno Fernandes after Ruben Amorim’s men completed their season at Old Trafford

Bruno Fernandes was the standout performer for Manchester United during the Red Devils’ lacklustre 2024-25 Premier League campaign at Old Trafford.

The 30-year-old United captain played well and netted 19 times and registered 19 assists in 57 matches for the Red Devils across all competitions last season.

Bruno Fernandes’ exploits for United in the 2024-25 season earned the Portugal star the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award for a record-tying fourth time.

The Portugal international’s recognition of lifting the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year prize earned him the highest of praises from United teammate Leny Yoro.

Speaking to Manchester United’s official website, Yoro said: “Bruno is a top player.

“He’s really good this season, but in the others, he was good, too. To have him on the pitch is a really good thing for us; to have a captain like that is very good.

“Even outside the pitch, he speaks with everyone, every young player… he tries to involve everyone. So, this is really good.”

Leny Yoro singles out the best word to describe Portugal and Man Utd midfielder Bruno Fernandes

Bruno Fernandes had been linked with Al Hilal this summer, but the United skipper came out and rejected the idea of signing for the Saudi Pro League club.

Yoro, who arrived at Old Trafford from Lille last summer, was asked to describe Fernandes in one word and he labelled his United teammate as a “magician.”

The 19-year-old French centre-back continued: “He’s a real joker, always making jokes!

“But when you need to be serious on the pitch, he’s serious. He tries to involve everyone.

“He speaks with everyone, always with a smile, and this is what you need in the team. One word to describe Bruno? Magician!”

Fernandes is now level with United legends David de Gea and Cristiano Ronaldo for the most Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award wins (all of them are on four apiece).
