'We're getting the KO' - Wardley says fans can help him beat Huni at Portman Road

Wardley (18-0-1, 17KO) faces unbeaten Australian Justis Huni (12-0, 7KO) for the WBA interim world heavyweight title at the top of a night of big-time boxing.

The duo weighed in at the Ipswich Corn Exchange this lunchtime, with a large crowd giving Wardley a vocal backing as the duo squared off.

Wardley tipped the scales as 243 lbs (17 stone 3 lbs), while Huni came in at a career-high 248lbs (17 stone 8lbs), perhaps in a bid to steel himself for the Suffolk man's feared power.

"There are no nerves. This is everything I've asked for, everything I've wanted for the last few years - between me, the team, Frank (Warren), the club and everyone, we wanted to bring this dream together, and we're only hours away.

"Tomorrow night's going to be huge."

He vowed: "My fights are always entertaining, there's never been a boring Fabio Wardley fight and one way or the other we're getting the knockout."

Speaking earlier in the week, Wardley told us how important the thousands of fans cheering his name will be.

“It’s hard to quantify how much of a boost they will give me," he smiled. "Sometimes I can take myself into a war and that little roar of the crowd, that buzz of energy, does translate to you in the ring.

“You feel it and it gives you some extra oomph, an extra deep breath, the ability to throw another combination of punches that might finish the fight.

“So it’s going to be invaluable to have this whole stadium here behind me on the night and chanting my name.”

Wardley explained: "I've got two of the biggest weeks of my life back to back.

"June is a very busy month for me, there's a lot going on, but it's going to be fantastic, two massive life events happening really close together.

"She will be there, much to my disagreement and suggesting she should stay at home - she said 'no, I'm coming' and she's the boss, she runs the game.

"So she'll be there on the night and I just hope everything goes to plan. She can do whatever she wants come Sunday, but Saturday night let's just relax!"
