Manchester United have already been active in the summer transfer window as Ruben Amorim looks to improve the squad following a disappointing season.

A 15th-place finish and a loss in the Europa League final means that there will be no European football at Old Trafford next season. It’s something that United will be looking to change this time next year.

To try and strengthen the squad, they have completed the £62.5 million signing of Wolves forward Matheus Cunha. The club are also working on a deal for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, who is expected to cost a similar fee.

Given the Premier League profitability and sustainability rules (PSR), sales may now be needed to fund transfers going forward. There are a few that could potentially give the club a windfall.

United have put a price tag of £40 million on Marcus Rashford, who impressed on loan with Aston Villa in the second half of the season. Villa have the option to make the deal permanent this summer for the same price, but it is also opened up to other clubs, with Barcelona linked with an interest.

Sancho coming back to United has already earned United £5 million, with Chelsea paying that fee for not activating the obligation to buy. That obligation was for a fee up to £25 million.

Therefore, if United can find a buyer at that price, they will earn a total of £30 million from the sale of Sancho, who is out of contract next year.

Another player who spent time out on loan is Antony. The winger impressed during a six-month temporary deal with Real Betis.

Bayer Leverkusen, now managed by former United boss Erik ten Hag, have been linked with an interest. The club are likely to ask for a fee of over £32.52 million, to avoid the transfer going down as a loss on PSR.

Another player who could be sold this summer is fellow winger Alejandro Garnacho. United turned down a bid from Napoli in January, but they are said to be willing to sell the player for £40 million this summer.

If United want to raise even more funds they could cash in on midfielder Kobbie Mainoo. There are contrasting reports over the price that the club would demand if they were to sell this summer, however, the 20-year-old is valued at €50 million (£42m) by Transfermarkt. He has two years remaining on his contract at Old Trafford.

If United were to cash in on all the players at the prices mentioned, then they would raise a total of £184.52 million for potential incomings. £82 million of that will also go down as pure profit due to the club selling home-grown players in Rashford and Mainoo.
