Potential Aaron Rodgers, Pittsburgh Steelers contract details revealed

The Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to land quarterback Aaron Rodgers on a rather modest deal, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Rapoport says that Rodgers’ deal is likely to be heavily incentive-laden, with the base salary coming in around $10 million.

“You mentioned the one-year deal, but there are still no firm and final financial terms,” Rapoport said. “Aaron Rodgers said on the Pat McAfee Show he’d play for $10 million, and that’s where the base salary is expected to be with some incentives to get a little higher. It is not going to be a big money deal.”

As Rapoport noted, Rodgers did say back in April he would play for just $10 million. It seems the deal will come around that mark.

“It ain’t about the money,” Rodgers said on The Pat McAfee Show. “I’ll play for $10 million. I don’t care. I never once said I needed a multi-year deal.”

Rodgers had 28 touchdowns to 11 interceptions in 2024. He went just 5-12 in his starts with the Jets, and even after they acquired All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams, went just 3-8. It was a tough season for Rodgers, who also had multiple leg injuries.

The Steelers think something remains in the tank for the former four-time MVP. They zeroed in on him as their target, as a result, especially after missing on re-signing Justin Fields.

Now, Rodgers will be with the Steelers on a deal that will not break the bank, and could still land them another wide receiver to help Rodgers.
