Arsenal ‘Now Advancing’ in Talks for ‘Perfect’ Player: Fabrizio Romano Breaks Week-Long Silence

Arsenal have reportedly now made some further progress in their quest to finally secure the proper striker that they require to win titles. Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Arsenal are now closer to signing Benjamin Sesko after the forward decided to leave following a disappointing league finish for RB Leipzig.

Arsenal ‘Advancing’ in Talks for Benjamin Sesko to Solve Number Nine Problem

‘Discussions Underway and Proceeding Well’

Romano has reported that Arsenal are “now advancing” in their talks for Sesko, following on from his exclusive a week ago that they had “started moving initial concrete talks”. The journalist explains that discussions are underway and “proceeding well” between all parties: negotiations with both Leipzig and Sesko are going positively, which bodes well for the Gunners. Sesko was expected to leave this summer regardless, so it is good news that the player is interested as there will surely be other suitors in this current striker market. Whilst there is no agreement expected in the next few days, Arsenal are in a strong position.

Sesko the ‘Perfect’ Solution

It is pretty clear to every football fan that Arsenal have one problem: the striker position. Gabriel Jesus is injury prone and Kai Havertz has often played in midfield, leading to Mikel Merino being their makeshift centre-forward. Mikel Arteta has been missing a proper number nine since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette left the club.

Sesko is arguably the “perfect” solution to this. His physical presence is exactly what the Gunners need, both in the box as a poacher, but also in build-up play as a focal point to hold-up play and progress the ball. Crucially, he is a number nine. He can put away the chances that Arsenal’s forwards have been missing all season.

Additionally, he is extremely quick. Some have called him “Haaland-esque”, this rare breed of striker that is big and strong, but also explosive and can make runs in behind defensive lines. If he integrates well, he could finally be the crucial key to beating Manchester City and Liverpool to that elusive Premier League title in the upcoming season at the Emirates Stadium.
