Ruben Amorim 'really likes' one quality Bryan Mbeumo will bring to Manchester United

Ruben Amorim looks likely to have a brand new front three by the time August arrives.

After scoring just 44 goals in the 2024-25 Premier League campaign, attacking reinforcements were always going to be needed this summer.

Manchester United are expected to let five first-team attackers leave over the coming months, with Alejandro Garnacho already told to leave and will fetch a hefty fee for the club.

Elsewhere, Antony is wanted by Bayern Munich for a fee as high as £59m, while Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Rasmus Hojlund are also on the exit list.

In return, United have agreed to sign Matheus Cunha for his £62.5m release clause, which will be paid over three years.

Now, Bryan Mbeumo is becoming a real target for United.

What Ruben Amorim likes about Bryan Mbeumo

Ineos is moving fast in the window, with a second United bid to sign Mbeumo now submitted, which is worth over £60m, standing an excellent chance of being accepted.

Now, to discuss whether the signing fits in for Amorim, Portuguese journalist Sergio Krithinas appeared on The Transfers Podcast with Duncan Castles.

“Yeah, he can play on either side, and his speed is something that Amorim really likes. He likes players who can inject speed into the game.”

Krithinas then continued to explain alternative reasons Amorim will like Mbeumo.

“The fact that he can also play in many positions is something that Ruben Amorim likes as well.

“Under Amorim, Sporting signed a lot of players from within the league from mid-table teams, and they usually all improved. Amorim likes signing players who are almost thankful to be playing in a big club.”

Mbeumo brings a lot to United beyond just goals and assists, with his running a quality Amorim will love.

How fast is Manchester United target Bryan Mbeumo?

Mbeumo fits Amorim’s ‘mad dogs’ demand as he finished the Premier League season in the top three for yards covered in the 2024-25 season, only beaten by two players.

Not only does Mbeumo run an awful lot, but he was also clocked in during the 2023-24 season as reaching a top speed of 35.94 km/h, which was the ninth fastest in the league during this season, as per the league website.

Mbeumo will become among the fastest at United immediately and offer a lot running in behind, which has been lacking since Rashford was exiled.

This is a quality that Bruno Fernandes will love in Mbeumo, as the captain will be able to play brilliant long passes in behind for the Cameroonian to run onto.
