Report: Luis Diaz has now told people what he'd like to do this summer as Liverpool exit talk intensifies

Luis Diaz is one of the main Liverpool players to have been linked with a move away this summer.

In fact, Diaz addressed the rumours head-on and admitted that he and his agent are talking to other clubs ahead of a potential Liverpool exit.

The Colombia international still has two years left on his deal with the Anfield outfit, with Liverpool not wanting to sell the attacker unless a massive bid comes in.

A recent report from David Ornstein even outlined that Liverpool would allow him to leave on a free transfer in two years if a deal can’t be reached.

Indeed, there has already been a fair few rumours and stories that have emerged regarding his future and, seeing as though the window is still young, Liverpool fans may need to ready themselves for the rumour mill to go into overdrive.

Luis Diaz will only leave Liverpool for Barcelona this summer

Barcelona’s interest in Diaz has been made more than clear from the very start.

Hansi Flick’s men are in the market for a left-winger this summer so that they can move Raphinha to a more central role.

And, as per a report from Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Diaz would only leave Liverpool for Barcelona.

Mundo Deportivo outline that Diaz has ‘always’ followed Barcelona and is willing to do ‘everything he can’ to play for the La Liga giants.

Even though Diaz would be ‘coveted by millions’ in the Saudi Pro League, the fact that he wants to continue competing at the ‘highest level’ means that a move to Saudi Arabia is off the table.

Liverpool must sell Luis Diaz to avoid losing him for free

If Liverpool are not willing to offer Diaz a contract extension by the end of the 2025-26 season, they must consider selling him this summer.

Liverpool have just gone through a massive free agent saga with Trent Alexander-Arnold, and nobody needs to experience that again.

Indeed, the Reds may have rebuffed Barcelona’s first offer for the attacker, but in the grand scheme of things, if the Merseyside outfit receives a strong enough bid, selling Diaz should definitely be considered.

The 2024-25 season of Luis Diaz in numbers.

That is, even though he’s been in fine form throughout the 2024-25 campaign.

With the money they could earn from his sale, they’d likely be able to source a new replacement and perhaps even have some change left over to put towards another deal.

Diaz may be prominent in Arne Slot’s plans this season, but if the Anfield outfit don’t see a future beyond that, then there’s no reason why they shouldn’t sell, as long as Barcelona can afford the fee, of course.
