Arne Slot will demand up to £70million for Luis Diaz after Liverpool rebuffed an approach from Barcelona, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what sources have told him about the uncertainty over Diaz‘s future at Anfield.
Liverpool are continually confused and frustrated by the situation surrounding Diaz, who has been linked with numerous moves away this summer despite his form tailing off towards the end of the season
Football Insider reported on 23 May that Barcelona were weighing up a mammoth £85m offer for the Colombian, but the Spanish giants aren’t in a financially strong enough position to make such an offer.
However, sources have told Football Insider that Liverpool have dropped Diaz’s valuation to roughly £60–70m, but that could easily rise again if clubs in the Saudi Pro League make good on their interest.

Diaz destination unclear as Liverpool weigh up transfer fee
Football Insider revealed on 4 June that Barcelona could now sign Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford on loan rather than pay a £40m transfer fee, and this would likely end their interest in Diaz.

Speaking on the new Inside Track, O’Rourke said that even if Barcelona pull out of the race to sign him, Diaz’s future could still lie away from Anfield if Liverpool accept a bid from a Saudi Pro League club.
“I don’t see how Barcelona could afford him, unless there’s some major changes going on there”, he told Football Insider.
“Financially, they’re probably looking at around £60million-plus, £70million for Luis Diaz – his reputation has only been enhanced [since] moving to Liverpool from Porto.
“He’s won the Premier League title. He’s been a regular for Colombia as well.
“If Saudi Pro League clubs do come calling for Diaz, then maybe Liverpool could drive up that asking price to get as much as they possibly can.”

Liverpool to let Diaz leave amid transfer overhaul
Diaz isn’t the only player who could be usurped in Liverpool’s frontline next season with Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez also potentially bound for the exit door, as Slot aims to overhaul his title-winning squad.
With a club-record move for Florian Wirtz lined up and a potential hijack deal on the cards for Man City target Rayan Cherki, Slot could soon have new first-choice players both out wide and in the number 10.
Liverpool have wasted no time in their efforts to improve and Jeremie Frimpong is already through the doors at Anfield, but departures seem inevitable over the course of the transfer window and Diaz could be one player on his way out.
