Bills Given Surprise Grade For QB and WR Duos

The Buffalo Bills know they have one of the best quarterbacks in football. Josh Allen's talent will always keep Buffalo in championship contention.

Who he ends up throwing the football to, though, remains something of a mystery.

As things stand, Allen's top receiving target in 2025 is expected to be Khalil Shakir. He has grown into a very dependable player by totaling over 1,500 yards receiving combined in his first three years.

But as quarterback and receiver duos come, the Allen-Shakir duo isn't one that is talked about as a top pair in the league.

PFF writer Trevor Sikkema essentially argued that by placing the Allen/Shakir duo at just 18th in the league.

"The Bills’ passing offense is more by committee, but Shakir seems to lead the group with the highest threat rate (target rate on routes run) and most targets in 2024," Sikkema said. "Though their average target depth as a duo is on the lower side, at 6.1 yards over the past two seasons, Allen and Shakir have ideal efficiency scores with the highest completion rate (83.6%) on this list and no turnover-worthy plays."

Our view? It is surprising - and pretty ludicrous - to list Allen on any list with quarterbacks as anything other than a top-10 duo. It's just that simple. Despite that, Sikkema's argument is that Shakir's skill set isn't among the best across the league.

And their 18th ranking will only give the duo a chance to show just how wrong PFF's rankings were.
