“All Done”–Romano Says Liverpool Are Poised To Wrap Up Surprise Summer Transfer

Liverpool are expected to snap up Puskas Academia goalkeeper Armin Pecsi, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Writing on his X account, Romano confirmed that the agreement with the player is “all done” and it is now down to the “final details”.

It is set to be a “record” sale for Puskas Academia, who play in the top flight in Hungary.

The move for Pecsi has come out of the blue and it remains to be seen whether he will remain at Anfield or be sent out on loan.

What do Liverpool fans need to know about the keeper?

Pecsi started his career at another Hungarian 1st division team ETO FC Gyor, before switching to Puskas Academia in the summer of 2017.

The shot-stopper made his way up the youth ranks before making his senior debut during a loan spell at Csakvar. He spent the first half of the 2023/24 season there before going back to his parent club.

On his return to Puskas Academia, Pecsi was elevated to No.1 status and he has been a regular starter ever since. He has not been capped by Hungary at senior level yet, but he has played 5 times for the Under-21s.

Pecsi would be 3rd or 4th choice

Even though Caoimhin Kelleher has been sold to Brentford for £18m, head coach Arne Slot still has plenty of other options in goal. In addition to Alisson Becker and Giorgi Mamardashvili (who is set to return from Valencia at the beginning of next month), Czech international Vitezslav Jaros is also still at the club.

For that reason, it seems unlikely that Pecsi would even get a spot on the bench next season and that suggests a loan spell would probably be prudent to help him continue his development.
