While Arne Slot has promised no radical change will take place, it’s clear that a few players will be traded out.

It’s also clear that there will be a “sell-to-buy policy, an approach already in motion with the £18 million sale of Caoimhin Kelleher to Brentford.

The likes of Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliott are among the other names in the first team squad likely to be on the chopping block.

Another player whose future is not entirely clear is Kostas Tsimikas.

Signing Kerkez would strengthen Liverpool’s long-term options at left-back, increasing competition for Andy Robertson and cast doubt over the future of Kostas Tsimikas, whose role at the club is now not clear.

Jamie Carragher already thinks that the Greek international will depart Anfield this summer.

However, Scotland boss Steve Clarke has hinted that Robertson still has to make his own decision over his Anfield future:

“If Andy decides to stay and fight for his place, I’m sure he’ll play enough,” Clarke said in his Scotland press conference ahead of a friendly vs Iceland. ”

“He had to fight so hard to have a career and to build on that.”

“I don’t see a decline in him. I see him coming here and playing well and I’ve watched him a number of times for Liverpool and I didn’t see any drop,” Clarke explained.

It’s clear that Robertson’s manager at Scotland is aware that he could have a big decision to make this summer.

But for the 31-year-old himself, he issued a defiant message that points towards staying on Merseyside and competing with Milos Kerkez:

“We’re not daft, it looks as if a deal could potentially be done,” Robertson said.

“But, until that is done, I’ve not even given that a second thought. I back myself. I’ve got confidence in my own ability and that drives me forward.”

“I’ve had eight fantastic years at Liverpool in terms of winning trophies and being a mainstay in the team, which I’m incredibly proud of.”

“I’m not getting any younger. I can’t change my age, but I still believe I’ve got a lot to give and that’s what I focus on.”

“I focus on myself – you can’t focus on other people or who you’re competing with.
