Everton will need to assess other attacking options with Angel Gomes now out of the picture.
It was confirmed today by Fabrizio Romano that Gomes will join Marseille, as despite David Moyes admiring Gomes, a deal won’t be happening.
To have signed the England international on a free would no doubt have been a bargain with the Toffees missing out.
But The Friedkin Group will have to look forward, as there is a long time left in this window with no need to panic.
Funnily enough though, Gomes’ move might have picked Everton’s replacement itself.

Everton can try and land Jonathan Rowe from Marseille
With Gomes set to add to Roberto De Zerbi’s attack this summer, Moyes might see an opportunity to pounce on one of their players.
De Zerbi currently has 10 attacking players in his squad, and with Gomes’ arrival, surely Marseille will be looking to offload.
Thankfully for Moyes and Everton, there is someone in their squad who has a link to the Toffees.
MORE EVERTON STORIES
Everton are interested in Jonathan Rowe as the 22-year-old has struggled since his £17m move to Marseille, and an exit could be firmly on.
It could be the perfect time for Moyes to move in for Rowe, as the Scotsman can regain the spark from his time at Norwich City.
Everton have been tipped to sign Rowe, but there is a more alarming factor as to why the winger would consider a return to England.

How De Zerbi feels about Jonathan Rowe with Everton move needed
It was always a risk for a young player like Rowe to make the jump, but Gomes’ arrival might have painted the picture for the midfielder.
Although Gomes is more of a central player, he has been known to play on the wing for Lille, giving De Zerbi that option.
The former Brighton boss has adopted a 3-4-3 formation, which doesn’t suit Rowe’s playstyle in the slightest, as opposed to Moyes’ classic 4-2-3-1, with Rowe most dangerous when out on the wing, doing what he does best and cutting in from the left.
Everton are crying out for this sort of winger, and with Rowe’s background, it will suit Moyes who is going for Championship players.
Adding to this, Marseille boss De Zerbi even knows he struggles to fit into his setup, saying in a press conference in April: “Jonathan had a good start to the season. He also paid for the change in system and lost his way a bit on the pitch.”
For both Everton and Rowe, this move makes sense, as Gomes might have turned down the chance to play in the Premier League again, but it could certainly bring a silver lining with the ‘magic’ (PinkUn) winger.
