The Indiana Pacers did it again on Thursday night, finishing off Game 1 with an explosive bucket in the final seconds that gave them a huge win.
It was a tough break for the Oklahoma City Thunder, who seemed well on their way to a win for most of the night.
Following the loss, Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault talked about the Pacers and how they took the air out of the arena in the final seconds.
“You tip your hat to them,” Daigneault said. “They made plays. They’ve done it all playoffs. This is part of their identity. They have a lot of belief. They never think they’re out of it, so they play with great confidence even when their back’s against the wall. They proved that tonight.”
This is what the Pacers have done again and again throughout the season, including during the playoffs.
Tyrese Haliburton has the ability to shoot from just about anywhere, especially when the seconds are counting down.
In many ways, the loss on Thursday night wasn’t surprising because NBA fans have seen it repeatedly this year.
When the buzzer is about to sound and Haliburton has the ball, anything is possible.
At this point, the Thunder should expect more moments like this one.
Daigneault said he tips his hat to them, but he also wants to defeat the Pacers, so what is he going to do to change the outcome of Game 2?
There has to be a way to prevent this because the Thunder do not want to sink into a 2-0 hole.
