Aaron Rodgers' Steelers News Draws Clear Reaction from Ex-Teammate

It's been a long offseason for anyone patiently waiting for the free agent quarterback to make his decision, but the wait is finally over, as he agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday.

Of course, there will now be a lot of debate on how the Steelers will do with the four-time MVP and James Jones, who was Rodgers' teammate with the Green Bay Packers for eight seasons (2007 to 2013 and 2015), revealed what he thinks.

“Well, they’re a playoff team now, again, and once you get to the playoffs, anything can happen,” Jones said during Fox Sports' "The Facility." “We all know, you just want to punch your ticket to the dance… Coach [Mike] Tomlin should have a smile on his face this morning because now your team has a chance to compete… Aaron Rodgers walks into that building, instantly, you are a playoff team.”

Of course, despite the New York Jets going just 5-12 last season, Rodgers did put up solid numbers, completing 368-of-584 passes for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, 11 interceptions and a 90.5 passer rating.

Now, he joins a team with much more stability, as the Steelers went 10-7 in 2024, while making a playoff appearance and have not had a losing season since Tomlin took over as head coach in 2007.

Pittsburgh has also made several big offseason moves that will help Rodgers, including trading for wide receiver DK Metcalf and signing wide receiver Robert Woods to a one-year, $2 million contract.

However, it will remain to be seen if Jones' high praise is right, as ESPN BET currently gives the Steelers the third-best odds (+500) to win the AFC North and tied for the 17th-best (+5000) to win the Super Bowl
