Green to host clinic in Cedar Falls
Cedar Falls native and Milwaukee Buck A.J. Green will be hosting his second annual clinic at Cedar Falls High School June 13-14 for middle school and high school athletes.
The two-time Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year for Northern Iowa will offer hands-on advice and walk participants through his own warm-ups and training routines while also running skill-building drills alongside a team of coaches.
Green is coming off a season where he appeared in 78 games, earning eight starts, and saw his minutes increase from 22 per game in the regular season to 27 plus in the playoffs.
Green’s clinic will be held at Cedar Falls High School with the middle school sessions (5th through 8th grade) running from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on June 13, and 9 to 11 a.m. on June 13.

The High School portion of the clinic will be from 4-6 p.m. on June 13th and Noon to 2 p.m. on June 14.

Bucks run win streak to seven games
Juan Reyes and three relievers threw a five-hit gem and Waterloo rallied late to beat Thunder Bay, 3-2, Thursday at Riverfront Stadium to win its seventh straight game in Northwoods League action.
At 9-1, Waterloo leads the Northwoods Great Plains East Division by 1 ½ games over La Crosse and own the best overall record in the 24-team NWL.
Run scoring doubles by Marcus Heusohn and Jimmy Nugent provided gave Waterloo a 2-1 lead in the sixth, and then after Thunder Bay tied it in the top of the seventh, Owen Ross delivered a run-scoring double to left to score Brody Leyboldt for the game winning run in the bottom of the seventh.
Reyes worked six innings allowing just two hits and an earned run, while Camden Lyke, Nakni Anna and Logan Boenker worked the final three to preserve the win.
Heusohn went 2-for-4 and also scored a run as he is batting .407 on the season.
Wednesday, Mack Brousseau’s two-run home run in the top of the ninth lifted the Bucks to a 7-5 road win over the Rochester Honkers.
Trey Butler finished 2-for-5 with a pair doubles and 2 RBIs for Waterloo, while Brousseau, Jake and Jake Slade each scored twice. Owen Ross was 2-for-4 with a triple.
Relievers Brandon Rice, Alex Alberico, Tyler Glowacki and Leyboldt pitched 4 innings of scoreless baseball to allow the Bucks to rally for the win.
Waterloo hosted Thunder Bay Friday at Riverfront Stadium before heading to Eau Claire for a two-game set beginning Saturday at 6:35 p.m.

UNI adds McDermott to staff
The Northern Iowa women's basketball announced the hiring of Nicole McDermott as the Director of Operations on Wednesday morning.
McDermott will be responsible for all aspects of team travel, equipment, facility scheduling, volunteer work, and special events, and will be in charge of student managers and the Playmakers Club.
"We are so excited to welcome Nicole into our Panther family," UNI head coach Tanya Warren said. "She had an outstanding college career and throughout her experiences she continued to excel on and off the court. Being a product of our great state, it's always fun to welcome another Iowan into our program."
McDermott graduated with bachelor’s degrees in business administration and sports management from Clarke University in 2024 and with a master’s degree in operations management from Quincy University in 2025.
During her career at Clarke, McDermott was a three-year starter for the Pride starting all 104 games that she played in.
"I'm beyond excited to join the UNI Women's Basketball family as the Director of Basketball Operations," McDermott said. "I'm looking forward to getting started with an incredible staff and supporting our student-athletes both on and off the court.”

Luther leaving American Rivers Conference
After 103 years, Luther College, one of the 13 original members of the then Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (Now A-R-C), announced it will be leaving the A-R-C following the 2025-26 academic year for the Midwest Conference.
The Midwest Conference is comprised of teams in Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois, with Cornell College in Mount Vernon and Grinnell College also members of the league.
The other members of MWC are Illinois College, Knox, Lake Forest, Monmouth College, Beloit, Lawrence and Ripon.
