Jorge Mendes has Wolves’ replacement for Matheus Cunha right under his nose, he’s ‘incredible’…

Vitor Pereira will need to replace Matheus Cunha this summer, and he could look to his home country of Portugal to do so.

Matheus Cunha’s departure to Man United will leave Wolves 15 goals short next season – something Fosun simply must fix.

Christantus Uche is being targeted by Wolves as a possible replacement for the Brazilian, but with not much top-level experience, the Molineux outfit may be better off buying someone for the here and now.

When it comes to finding the best option, though, Wolves may be wise to revisit a market that has brought them joy in the past.

Wolves should target Francisco Conceicao

Wolves are expected to target Portugal again this summer, and the best option on offer could be Francisco Conceicao.

Fresh from scoring a worldie against Germany, the Portuguese talent could present himself as the perfect Cunha replacement this summer.

Dave Edwards believes Wolves need to sign a ‘gifted technical player’ to fill the void of the Brazilian – and this is something Conceicao could provide.

MORE WOLVES STORIES

Quick, clever and an underrated finisher, the 22-year-old’s performances have earned him many plaudits, including some kind words from Portugal boss Roberto Martinez.

Speaking after Conceicao’s last-minute winner vs the Czech Republic at EURO 2024, Martinez sang the praises of his super-sub.

“Francisco is an example of what it means to deserve to be in the team and be prepared to help the group as well.

“He has incredible maturity, he has a scent for danger inside the area and he showed it.

“For a coach, seeing him come off the bench and show what he showed is very important.”

Jorge Mendes could facilitate Conceicao deal

Wolves will face a tough task recruiting a player of Conceicao’s talent. They could, however, have an ace up their sleeve – namely, Jorge Mendes.

Conceicao is a client of the Portuguese super agent, and given that Mendes has a connection with Wolves, this deal could come to fruition.

Combine that with Juventus’ unwillingness to make Conceicao’s transfer permanent, and Wolves could potentially strike a deal once the attacker returns to Portugal.

Replacing Cunha is no mean feat, but this transfer could be the best option on the table.
