Heading into the 2025 NFL season, the Indianapolis Colts have a two-man quarterback competition in the works. Anthony Richardson, the team's former No. 4 overall pick, will be competing for the starting job with veteran newcomer Daniel Jones.
Richardson has been unable to live up to the hype of being a No. 4 overall pick. His first two years have been downright bad and filled with injuries.
This season could be his last chance to prove that he can be a long-term option for the Colts. If he is unable to do so, there is a good chance that Indianapolis would consider moving on from him.
Ahead of training camp and preseason action, it was reported that Richardson will miss OTAs this week due to a shoulder injury. That injury was to the same AC joint that he had injured previously.

Now, a new update has been given from ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler. It's a very positive update for both Richardson and Indianapolis.
Fowler has reported that Richardson "fully expects to be ready to go" for training camp.
In order to win the starting job and keep his hope of being the Colts' franchise quarterback alive, Richardson will need to be fully healthy. This is a big step in the right direction for him, although he needs to get healthy, stay healthy, and then produce on the field.
Throughout his first two NFL seasons, Richardson has played in just 15 games. He has completed a dismal 50.6 percent of his pass attempts for 2,391 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. In addition, he has rushed for 635 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground.
At just 23 years old, Richardson is still very young and inexperienced. He was always going to be a project for Indianapolis, but it's time for him to show some development.

Jones, on the other hand, is looking to resurrect his career. He had a rough tenure with the New York Giants that saw some high highs and very low lows. At this point, he is still 28 years old with a chance to win the Colts' starting job.
Both quarterbacks have something to prove entering training camp. They're both going to leave everything they have on the field.
Assuming Richardson is back at full health, it will be very interesting to see which quarterback comes out of training camp and preseason play as the starter in Week 1.
