All the latest Chelsea transfer news in one place, including updates on Rodrygo, Jarrad Branthwaite and Jamie Gittens.

Chelsea prioritising Gittens over Rodrygo

Chelsea are aware that Real Madrid winger Rodrygo could be a 'market opportunity' this summer, but they are prioritising a move for Borussia Dortmund wantaway Jamie Gittens instead, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

Contrary to reports, Chelsea are not in a rush to finalise the signing of Gittens before the Club World Cup. The England youth international reportedly has a €60 million release clause.

Despite Dortmund's last-gasp Champions League qualification, Gittens is determined to leave the club this summer after seeing his game time diminish following the appointment of Niko Kovac. A return to England is the expected outcome.

Rodrygo, meanwhile, still has not made a decision on his Real Madrid future. He will speak to new boss Xabi Alonso to get clarity on his prospects of regular minutes next season.

Arsenal are ready to pounce on the Brazilian's availability and have made him their new top target for the left wing. The Gunners are also in active talks with Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga in their search for a backup to David Raya.

Chelsea want Hato, not Branthwaite

The aforementioned Jacobs also reports that Chelsea hold a genuine interest in Ajax defender Jorrel Hato, who is expected to be one to watch this summer. The Dutchman has also been linked with Liverpool and Arsenal in the past.

Earlier this week, The Athletic dismissed claims that Chelsea are keen on Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite, and Jacobs confirms that the Blues are not exploring a move for the England international as things stand.

Chelsea are actively looking to sign defenders this summer despite the imminent arrival of Mamadou Sarr from BlueCo affiliate Strasbourg. French media claimed on Tuesday that an announcement of this deal was only a matter of time.

Hato is an appealing option for Chelsea as he can play both at centre-back and left-back. Moreover, the 19-year-old has been playing regularly for Ajax since age 17, so he already boasts a wealth of top-level experience.
