The Green Bay Packers‘ overhaul of the wide receiving corps this offseason has sparked speculation that rookies Matthew Golden or Savion Williams could lead to one of quarterback Jordan Love’s top targets being traded this summer.
Romeo Doubs has frequently been mentioned as a receiver who could be onn the move, and after the Packers chose Golden, Jayden Reed and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, met with general manager Brian Gutekunst to confirm his role with the team moving forward.
However, at least one rival league executive suggests the Packers might be much better off standing pat.

Reed finished last season as the Packers’ leading receiver and an AFC Scouting Director says that if dangled in a trade, the 25-year-old would have a robust market.
“Jayden Reed has the most value,” an AFC Scouting Director tells me, on the condition of anonymity to speak freely about another team. “But, they shouldn’t trade him. Since Christian Watson is likely to be out at least most of the season, which also curtails some of his trade value.
“So, if I were them, I’d keep all of those guys until at least after training camp, when you can assess where they are and what the offense is looking like.”

Watson’s injury certainly casts a cloud of uncertainty over not only how the Packers’ receiving corps will take shape this season but also whether Green Bay has the flexibility to deal away a rising star at the position.
While Golden and Williams’ first impressions during training camp and the preseason figure to shape the depth chart and could spark teams calling on Reed or Doubs, actually trading one of them away could significantly weaken the offense around Love this fall.
