There's no doubt that Newcastle United fans were bitterly disappointed to see top target Bryan Mbeumo do a shocking U-turn on his demand for Champions League football and opt to sign for Manchester United.
The Red Devils aren't just not in the Champions League, they're not in any European competition whatsoever next season, so when it looked like it was coming down to Man United and Newcastle as to where Mbeumo would ultimately play his football next season, Newcastle fans were pretty confident that we had it in the bag.
However, money talks in football, louder than the actual love of the game, and Mbeumo opted for the leaky roof of Old Trafford rather than the Champions League nights at St James' Park.
That leaves Newcastle with work to do to find a right-winger who ticks all the boxes Bryan Mbeumo did.

Anthony Elanga remains on the list
Newcastle are still keen on Anthony Elanga and Antoine Semenyo
The Telegraph have now reported that Newcastle still maintain a strong interest in two other Premier League wingers who have been linked with a move to Tyneside recently.
Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo and Nottingham Forest's Anthony Elanga have both been discussed extensively at Newcastle, and the Magpies could launch a bid for one or both of them in the near future.
However, as this came as part of Luke Edwards' sunshine article, he was quick to point out that the asking price for both players is too high and Newcastle won't be budging if the prices don't drop.

Newcastle are running out of options through frustrating inaction
Newcastle made a last-ditch Hail Mary £50 million bid for Elanga on deadline day last summer, which Nottingham Forest laughed out of the room. We thought it was expensive then, and we still do now.
However, we'd probably rather spend £50 million on Elanga than £50 million on Semenyo.
I would have suggested that we ditch both of those players and take a risk on Rayan Cherki after tracking him for so long, but it looks like we've missed out on that one, too, with the Frenchman heading to Manchester City once they and Lyon can agree on a fee.
