Report: Liverpool now ‘certain' to agree record-breaking transfer

Liverpool are now certain to strike a deal for their top transfer target. This one will get over the line.

Liverpool are currently pushing forward on a deal for Florian Wirtz. The German playmaker has reportedly chosen a move to Anfield this summer.

And that's a surprise, of course. No one went into this transfer window believing Wirtz was on the agenda at Liverpool, let alone that they'd be his pick.

Bayern Munich were thought to be dominating this race, with Wirtz the latest in a long, long line of elite German talents heading to Bavaria. The only risk they faced was thought to be Manchester City.

They've been chasing a replacement for Kevin De Bruyne and were in the race. Their sudden exit from the race in May was a shock, as was their sudden belief that Wirtz was overvalued by Bayer Leverkusen.

Within a couple of weeks, however, Liverpool were leading the race to sign Wirtz. Now it appears they've won it.

Florian Wirtz to Liverpool

Many have become a little anxious over this one. Liverpool have been directly dealing with Leverkusen for the last two weeks but no deal has been confirmed.

Though, there's reportedly nothing to worry about. Bild claims a deal between the two clubs for Wirtz is now 'certain'.

Liverpool's last offer climbed over €130m with add-ons. Leverkusen want closer to €150m. It's thought that a compromise is inevitable and that no one has anything to worry about here.
