Curtis Jones has been a tad out of favour at Liverpool this season.
When Jurgen Klopp was the man in charge, Jones had a more or less regular starting role with the Englishman often being used as the Reds’ more advanced central midfielder.
Since Arne Slot has come in, however, he’s more often than not stuck with the same midfield trio each week, which has meant that the likes of Jones and Harvey Elliott have had much less playing time than they’d have desired.
When called upon, Jones has been solid and, in comparison to the game time Elliott has been receiving, it feels like the Scouser should be thankful for the amount he’s been given.

The midfielder has improved a lot over the last couple of seasons, with advice on what he should do next seeming to come from many different places.
Anthony Gordon has told Curtis Jones he needs to be more ‘mature’ with the way he dresses
Jones and Anthony Gordon have been friends ever since they were in the academy together.
Things didn’t end up working out for Gordon at Liverpool, but both have gone on to have fairly impressive Premier League careers thus far.
In a recent interview with British GQ, Jones was asked whether he had any footballers he was friends with outside of the game, to which he replied: “Anthony Gordon is probably my only best mate in the football world. He’s trying to change me, saying, You’re a dad now, you need to be more mature with how you dress.”

He was then asked if he had taken the advice given by Gordon on board which sparked the following response: “Yeah, I’ve invested in a classier vibe and look now. At first I started out saying I could never dress like that, but the more he was around me, explaining how he felt, I was like, Oh, OK, OK. I guess it’s good that I can play both sides, you know what I mean?”
Liverpool could end up targeting Anthony Gordon if Luis Diaz is sold
The Reds’ interest in Gordon can be traced back to when he played for Everton, with Liverpool’s interest also being piqued recently.
Indeed, the Anfield outfit were also heavily interested in Gordon last summer, but after he signed an extension to his Newcastle contract, the deal was chalked off.
And now, according to a new report from The i, Liverpool could ‘target’ a move for the Englishman once again.
Newcastle’s current stance is that they’d like to keep him, but the report adds that a ‘big enough offer’ could tempt them to sell up.

At the moment, however, it seems like Luis Diaz is set to stay at the club after Liverpool rebuffed Barcelona’s first approach for the winger on 5 June.
Indeed, only time will tell what the future has in store, but for now, it doesn’t seem like Jones will be reunited with his best mate at Liverpool any time soon.
