Arsenal have intensified discussions over a potential £60 million move for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, as the Gunners look to strengthen their attack ahead of the 2025–26 season.

The 22-year-old Slovenia international is firmly on Arsenal’s shortlist, and club officials have held further talks with Sesko’s representatives and Leipzig, who are reportedly open to selling if the right offer is made.

According to multiple reports, Leipzig are willing to cash in on Sesko as part of a broader summer rebuild following a disappointing campaign that saw them miss out on European qualification.

Arsenal have long admired Sesko and were close to landing him last summer, but the striker opted to remain in the Bundesliga for an additional season. Now, with the club re-evaluating its forward options, renewed negotiations suggest that Sesko could be the priority target.

New sporting director Andrea Berta is also tracking other strikers, including Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyökeres, while Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak is understood to be out of reach, with the Magpies unwilling to sell.

Gyökeres, who scored an astonishing 95 goals in 100 games for Sporting, is believed to favour a move to Arsenal over other suitors, including clubs from Spain and Italy. The Portuguese club are open to selling the Sweden international for just over £60 million this summer. Although the 26-year-old has kept quiet about his future, his comments after Sporting’s final game of the season hinted at a possible departure.

“Let’s see. It’s hard for me to say because it is football and you never know what’s going to happen in the summer,” Gyökeres said. “So for me to say anything else than that is impossible.”

Gyökeres has experience in English football from previous spells at Brighton and Coventry City but rose to prominence with his prolific form in Portugal. Arsenal’s interest could soon materialise into a bid, although they face potential competition from Manchester United.

New United boss Ruben Amorim, who coached Gyökeres at Sporting, is also in the market for a striker following the club’s failure to sign Liam Delap, who is heading to Chelsea.
