Jonathan David is edging closer to his Lille exit amid links to Manchester United and an array of other clubs around Europe.
It’s going to be a busy summer transfer window for Manchester United.
Ruben Amorim has been tasked with turning things around at Old Trafford after a turbulent campaign. United finished 15th in the Premier League table and won’t have any European football next season as a result of losing the Europa League final 1-0 against Tottenham.
This means Amorim will be trying to use the transfer window to strengthen his squad ahead of the 2025/26 campaign. United confirmed the signing of Matheus Cunha at the beginning of the transfer window and could add Bryan Mbeumo in the coming days if talks with Brentford progress.
There will be room for another attacking signing because United have yet to sign a striker. It’s unlikely that they will pass on the opportunity after watching Rasmus Hojlund struggle to lead the line over the past two seasons.
United have been linked with moves for an array of strikers, including Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen, but both players would cost a significant amount of money and possibly take up most of Amorim’s transfer kitty.
That is why it would be naïve to rule out cheaper options after missing out on Liam Delap.

It says a lot that United can still attract top players in Europe without Champions League football.

United have been mentioned as being interested in the Lille striker for years, but that interest has reportedly intensified with the Canada international’s contract set to expire later this month.
If it were up to David, he would prefer a move to one of three clubs, including United, this summer.
That is according to Friday’s edition of Corriere dello Sport, as cited by Sport Witness, claiming that the 25-year-old would like to join United, Barcelona or Paris Saint-Germain.
Those three clubs are believed to be David’s priorities ahead of a summer exit away from Lille.
Although it’s understood that David’s preference is to make a switch to the Premier League.
That makes United frontrunners in the eyes of the Italian press, but the Red Devils have yet to make any contact with the player or his representatives.
