For a long period of time, it looked like Manchester United and Newcastle United were going to be head to head in their battle to sign current Brentford superstar Bryan Mbuemo.

However, with it being revealed that the attacker had chosen United as his preferred club of choice over Newcastle, the Red Devils now look to be in the prime spot to sign the Cameroon international.

Both clubs have a wide and extensive history winning many trophies across their histories. These two clubs are also both recognisable to fans both in England and abroad.

Newcastle Aid Mbuemo Pursuit

Now, it has been revealed that Manchester United have been handed a big boost from the Toon army in their pursuit for Mbuemo.

This comes because Newcastle are reported to be targeting former Manchester United player Anthony Elanga, one of many examples of talent to come out of the Manchester United academy system.

When Elanga was sold to Nottingham Forest, there was a sell on clause that was interlinked into the deal meaning that each time the winger is sold, United will receive part of the fee paid for Elanga.

This therefore means if Newcastle United were to sign Anthony Elanga, they would be helping Manchester United as they would receive a percentage of the fee paid for the youth academy graduate.

This would help the Red Devils towards their aim to buy Bryan Mbuemo as more funds would become available due to the funds received from the sell on clause.

Furthermore, with Newcastle targeting Elanga, they would be essentially giving up on the potential of the North East side signing Bryan Mbuemo which would increase United’s chances of signing the attacker.

A United Guarantee?

With Newcastle now looking to be pulling out of the race for Mbuemo and with a fee guaranteed to come in if Elanga is sold, Manchester United would be in better shape than ever as they strive to sign the attacker from the Bees.
