**RETURNING** Celtic hero Kieran  Tierney rode the rollercoaster of emotions at Hampden this evening.
The 28-year-old left-back celebrated his 50th Scotland cap by getting the nod from Steve Clarke to face Iceland in the friendly encounter at the national stadium.
However, there was despair for Tierney and his international team-mates as they crashed to a 3-1 loss against their lively opponents.
The comeback Celt was withdrawn from action in the 68th minute on an evening where it all went wrong for the Scots.
Steve Clarke lost keeper Angus Gunn through injury in the seventh minute and then they gifted opening goal to the grateful Icelanders only a couple of minutes later.
It was a dreadful moment for debutant netminder replacement Cieran Slicker who was wayward with a clearance that was intercepted and the ball was moved swiftly to Andri Gudjohnsen who fizzed an unstoppable 20-yard drive into the top right-hand corner of the net.
In the 24th minute, John Souttar levelled with a diving header from a left-wing corner-kick delivery from Max Johnston.
But some horrendous defending just before the interval allowed the visitors to take the lead for a second time.
Unfortunately, Slicker again contributed to panic in the penalty box by failing to come for the set-play that eventually saw the ball cannon off the unfortunate Lewis Ferguson and ricochet into the net.
The 22-year-old Ipswich netminder’s nightmare continued seven minutes after the turnaround when a header from Victor Palsson appeared to go through his hands for No.3.
Goerge Hirst thought he had pulled one back with his first goal for his country, but Scott McTominay was ruled offside in the build-up for the strike.
Alas, it was the story of the night for the Scots, not the stage Tierney could have anticipated in picking up his half-century of caps.
