Arsenal have received a significant boost ahead of the summer window, with defender Gabriel Magalhães signing a new four-year contract that will keep him at the Emirates until 2029. The Brazil international’s commitment marks the beginning of a broader effort by the club to secure the futures of several key players.
Gabriel, 26, has been a pillar of Mikel Arteta’s defence since his £27 million move from Lille in 2020. Forming a formidable partnership with William Saliba, he reportedly turned down lucrative offers from the Saudi Pro League to remain in north London.
According to The Mirror, the focus has now shifted to Saliba, who has two years left on his current deal. Arsenal have already opened talks with the France international, and the club is confident he will sign an extension despite interest from Real Madrid. Saliba is said to be settled in London and keen to continue his development under Arteta.

Another top priority is Bukayo Saka. The England winger, also nearing the final two years of his deal, has signaled a strong desire to stay at Arsenal long term. Talks are progressing, and optimism remains high within the club hierarchy.

New sporting director Andrea Berta is leading the charge, identifying contract renewals as a key part of his early tenure alongside summer transfer business. Arsenal are also in talks with Thomas Partey, whose contract is expiring, while Leandro Trossard enters the final year of his deal. Gabriel Martinelli, another long-term asset, has two years left on his current contract.
Speaking after signing his extension, Gabriel expressed his gratitude and ambition: “I arrived here as a young player and after almost five years I’m so happy and I’ve learned a lot. I’m so proud of myself — it’s an amazing journey, and I’m happy to continue it. I hope I win some trophies with this club, because I love this club and my family loves the club too.”
