Manchester United have started off their summer transfer window planning by focusing almost exclusively on attackers.

There is a clear pattern in the kind of players they are being linked with – they want versatile goal-scorers.

The Red Devils have already announced their first acquisition of their first signing of the summer – Matheus Cunha from Wolves. The Brazilian is coming off a very good Premier League season, where he finished 8th in the goalscorers standings with 15.

Interestingly, Man Utd are also heavily linked with a transfer for the fourth highest goalscorer in the Premier League last season – Bryan Mbeumo. As per journalist Alex Crook via YouTube, Man Utd are prepared to agree a £13million a year deal to sign the Brentford star.

Man Utd willing to pay big for Mbeumo

Speaking about the situation, here is what Crook had to say about Man Utd’s interest in Bryan Mbeumo:

“£250,000 a week is the pay package that Bryan Mbeumo is demanding, and I’m told Manchester United are willing to pay that.”

£250,000 a week works out to around £13m per year and that is a significant wage that Man Utd are committing to. It comes as quite a surprise that they are willing to spend that much considering their current squad predicament.

To put this into perspective, Mbeumo earns around £50,000 a week on his current contract with Brentford and Man Utd will be increasing his wages by 5 times to bring him to Old Trafford. For all his talent, that might not be a rational decision.

Mbeumo has been brilliant for Brentford for quite a few seasons now. Having spent much of his time in the shadow of Ivan Toney, the Cameroonian made the step up to becoming the main protagonist for the Bees this season.

Despite the slightly high wages, Mbeumo would be a ceiling raiser at Man Utd. The 25-year-old adds a lot of quality on the right wing and can be used in multiple roles by Ruben Amorim.

It remains to be seen if the English club get the deal done in the coming weeks.
