Zac Robinson was on Sean McVay’s Los Angeles Rams coaching staff from 2019 to 2023 until he followed Raheem Morris to the Atlanta Falcons, where he now serves as offensive coordinator:
2019 - Assistant QB coach
2020 - Assistant WR coach
2021 - Assistant QB coach
2022, 2023 - Pass game coordinator
Before joining the Rams, Robinson worked for Pro Football Focus (PFF) as a podcaster and analyst. He returned to his roots this week by joining his former PFF co-workers, Steve Palazzolo and Sam Monson, on their “Check the Mic” show by The 33rd Team.
Robinson touched on the following subjects:
McVay’s influence on Robinson’s offensive system
How he played part-time QB when Rams were short on passers
Why the Falcons fell in love with Michael Penix
Aggressiveness on fourth downs
How his time at PFF shaped his coaching career
Rams fans will likely keep close tabs on the Falcons this season since LA owns Atlanta’s 2026 first round pick. The Rams could find themselves at the wrong end of a breakout year by Robinson and Penix. The Falcons seem to be ascending and we could see these teams clash in the playoffs, though the Rams will be far from upset if Atlanta instead ends up towards the bottom of the standings.
