Fabrizio Romano shares 'accelerating' update on Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United, 'He wants to...'

Manchester United are close to securing arrival number two of the summer transfer window.

There are a minimum of four big transfers that Manchester United need to complete this summer.

However, having already agreed to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolves, one of these deals is already done.

This happened on the 1st of June, and now less than one week later and Ineos are ramping up toward completing summer signing number two for Ruben Amorim.

United are closing in on Bryan Mbeumo, with the Cameroonian the subject of one official bid and another is subject of a potential new offer imminently.

With the Brentford forward increasingly likely, Amorim is thought to be a fan of Mbeumo’s speed. Now, Fabrizio Romano has shared the latest on the deal.

Fabrizio Romano shares an update on Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United

Mbeumo is perfect for Amorim’s demands and a deal feels like it could be on the cusp of completion, with Romano now speaking on Friday night on the latest around his transfer situation.

“Bryan Mbeumo wants to go to Manchester United. He wants to wear the United shirt, he wants to play at Old Trafford.

“His priority is Man United, despite approaches from Arsenal, Newcastle, and more clubs.

“He has an agreement with United and the club is now working to finalise the transfer. Both clubs returned to talks today to finalise the deal.”

Romano also stated that United are now “accelerating” the deal toward completion as the second bid is awaited eagerly.

Mbeumo looks almost set to become the third major signing of Amorim’s reign, but what shirt number will be wear upon signing for United?

What shirt number will Bryan Mbeumo wear at Manchester United?

With Mbeumo closing in on his dream move, it is becoming interesting which shirt number he will be wearing when he dons the United red.

At Brentford, Mbeumo wears the number 19 shirt which is currently free at United making this the obvious shirt number for the Cameroon international forward to take.

Alternatively, Mbeumo could easily end up with the number 17 shirt once Alejandro Garnacho is sold. Meanwhile the number 10 shirt is already set to be Cunha’s when Marcus Rashford’s exit is confirmed.

With Mason Mount likely to keep the number seven and Joshua Zirkzee to keep the number 11 these are off the table, while the number nine will be reserved for a striker later this summer.

If Mbeumo is handed the number 19, he will follow in the footsteps of Dwight Yorke, Marcus Rashford and Raphael Varane.
