Liverpool have submitted a revised offer for Florian Wirtz after their initial bid was rejected by Bayer Leverkusen.

The Reds' new £113million bid will see the German giants receive £100million ith the additional £13million in add-ons, according to The Times. The offer, however, is still short of the €150 million [£126 million] the Bundesliga side want.

The report adds that Liverpool are unwilling to meet Leverkusen's asking price, but negotiations between the two sides are ongoing.

Wirtz' proposed deal would smash their club record, which is currently £85million, which they committed to pay for Darwin Nunez in the summer of 2022.

The German is keen to move to England and Liverpool looks set to be his destination having turned down approaches from Bayern Munich and Manchester City, who are now turning their attention to Lyon star Rayan Cherki.

The revised figure could be good for Cologne, who are set for a small lump of the transfer fee.

Under FIFA rules, clubs that play a part in nurturing a player from the age of 12 to 23 get a cut of the transfer fee, five per cent as 'training compensation'.

Wirtz had been part of their set-up as a youngster - before making the controversial move to Leverkusen that reportedly broke a gentlemen's agreement between the two clubs.

"Of course, we are looking into it. We know what we are entitled to and will fight for it," Koln's president Wolf stated on Radio Cologne. "We're looking at this with both eyes.

"We'll benefit from it. The higher the sum Liverpool is willing to pay, the better for us."

If Leverkusen bag themselves their £126m asking price from Liverpool, Koln could pocket roughly £6.3m, a nice windfall for a player they were furious to lose.
