Eagles' Most Underrated Rookie ‘Vanilla Gorilla’ Poised to Surprise

The Philadelphia Eagles had a clear interest in mind throughout the 2025 draft. After losing several key starters on their Super Bowl-winning team, the organization replenished many of those holes in April's selection process.

Top picks like linebacker Jihaad Campbell and safety Andrew Mukuba generated most of the fanbase's excitement. However, they may not have an immediate impact on the 2025 defense.

That honor may end up belonging to fourth-round defensive tackle out of Nebraska Ty Robinson.

Nicknamed the "Vanilla Gorilla," Robinson is 6-5 and over 300 pounds. At the NFL Combine, he ran a 4.83 forty time. For a player of his size, that kind of athleticism is scary for opposing offensive lines.

Joining a defensive line that is looking to replace Milton Williams, Robinson can be an immediate contributor to the Eagles' defense.

And that's a major difference compared to their first two picks.

Campbell is dealing with shoulder and knee surgeries. Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio has already said that the team does not expect to have him until midway through training camp. It will be very hard to see Campbell making any immediate impact on the Eagles in 2025.

Mukuba doesn't have a major injury concern like Campbell. He is learning a complex system and is competing for a starting role with Sydney Brown. The Texas product is not guaranteed to be on the field early in his career.

That leaves Robinson as a rare late-round selection who is in a perfect situation to play immediately. He'll work right into the team's current defensive line rotation and should be a menace to the opposition.

He may be a fourth-round pick, but Robinson is not a prospect to overlook.
