Philadelphia Eagles Announce Roster Move on Friday

Heading into the weekend, the Philadelphia Eagles announced that they are making a roster move. According to the team's official X account, the Eagles have claimed running back Keilan Robinson.

As a follow-up move, the Eagles have waived the wide receiver Ife Adeyi. That move comes just a couple of days after the Eagles signed the undrafted prospect, and had him as a part of the team's rookie camp.

The acquisition of Robinson comes as the Eagles are approaching the mandatory phase of minicamp. Robinson joins the Eagles after he had a stint with the Jacksonville Jaguars last season.

Entering the NFL, Robinson was coming off seasons with multiple teams. He started his NCAA career with a stint at Alabama. He appeared in eight games, rushing for 254 yards and two touchdowns on 39 attempts.

Ahead of the 2021 NCAA season, Robinson moved to Texas. During his sophomore season, Robinson rushed 45 times in 11 games. He averaged seven yards per carry and scored three touchdowns.

During Robinson's junior season with the Longhorns, he found most of his production in the receiving game. He caught 20 passes for 219 yards and scored three touchdowns. On the ground, he had 25 carries for 86 yards and zero scores in 13 games.

Robinson wrapped up his college career with 796 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground in 45 games. In the air, he caught 35 passes for 332 yards and scored three touchdowns.

As a return specialist, he returned 39 kicks, totaling 919 yards across his final two seasons.

Robinson was selected in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. During his rookie season, he appeared in six games. The fifth-rounder returned just two kicks for 34 yards. His longest return went 20 yards.

With the Eagles, Robinson should get a legitimate chance to compete for a spot on the roster as a return specialist.

Last season, the Eagles rolled out Kenneth Gainwell as their primary kick returner. In 17 games, Gainwell fielded 18 kicks, totaling 456 yards. His longest retutn was 36 yards. The veteran cornerback Isaiah Rodgers was second on the team in return yards with 225 on eight attempts.

Third on the team was the rookie running back, Will Shipley. He took out six kicks for 173 yards. Shipley led the Eagles in yards per return, averaging nearly 29 yards per kick.

With Gainwell taking his talents over to the Pittsburgh Steelers and Isaiah Rodgers joining the Minnesota Vikings for next season, there should be an open competition for the returner spot.

The Eagles are set to hold their mandatory minicamp phase on June 10.
