Former Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers Nearly Replicates Brett Favre

Former Green Bay Packers starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers has found a new home after a two-year stint with the New York Jets.

That new home will be with the Pittsburgh Steelers, as Rodgers is now on his way to Pittsburgh to sign a one-year deal with the team.

Aaron Rodgers Looks to Copy Packers Success

While his time with the Jets didn’t go all that well, Rodgers made plenty of magic happen in 18 years with the Green Bay Packers.

The California native and former first-round pick would go on to win four MVPs, set record after record, and he led the Packers to a Super Bowl XLV win over, of course, the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Now, the Packers’ all-time touchdown passes leader will look to make his mark in the Steel City for what could be the final chapter of one of the greatest careers in the history of the sport.

He is going to try and cultivate some of the magic that his for Packers predecessor and good friend Brett Favre had with the Minnesota Vikings at the end of his legendary career.

Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre Take Similar Routes Post-Packers

Much like Rodgers, Favre also ended up playing for the New York Jets for a time after his storied time in Green Bay came to an end.

But after missing the playoffs with them in 2008, Favre ultimately decided to join a playoff-ready team in Minnesota.

In 2009, Favre led the Vikings to a 13-3 record and an NFC Championship Game appearance in what was statistically the best season of his career, believe it or not.

Rodgers, despite not joining a hated division rival of the Packers, is joining a playoff-caliber team in the Steelers.

While Favre joined a Vikings team with stars on both sides of the football, such as Adrian Peterson and Jared Allen, Rodgers is joining a team that has the likes of D.K. Metcalf and T.J. Watt.

Of course, Rodgers will also have the opportunity to face the Packers, along with the New York Jets, this season.

Packers fans remember all too well when Favre dished out some revenge of his own on his former team during that 2009 season, and they are hoping Rodgers doesn’t do the same.
