Steelers WR Target 'Not Quite Ready to Sign'

Free agent wideout Gabe Davis paid a visit to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday, but you might not have heard that. Bigger news out of the Steelers' facility on Thursday might have overshadowed his visit.

But while the Aaron Rodgers imminent signing made all the news, Davis left without a contract.

"They [The Pittsburgh Steelers] hosted Gabe Davis on a visit," Rapoport said on "Good Morning Football". "Not quite ready to sign, just health-wise yet."

Since the trade that sent George Pickens to Dallas left an opening in the receivers room, Pittsburgh has been rumored to be on the lookout for his replacement.

Davis tore his meniscus in November, ending his 2024 season prematurely. Early last month, the Jaguars released him with a failed physical designation, making him a free agent.

Last offseason, Davis signed a three-year, $39 million deal with Jacksonville but posted just 20 catches for 239 yards and two touchdowns across 10 games. He never could gain any chemistry with quarterback Trevor Lawrence as the team stumbled to a 4-13 mark.

The former Florida State Seminole reportedly visited the San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants before meeting with the Steelers on Thursday.

Davis spent four seasons in Buffalo after the Bills selected him in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft with the 128th overall pick.

His best season came in 2022 when he posted 48 catches for 836 yards and seven touchdowns, all career highs.

For his career, he's tallied 2,969 yards on 183 receptions with 29 touchdowns.
