Declan Rice sends Gabriel Magalhaes four-word message after Arsenal announcement

Declan Rice has sent Arsenal teammate Gabriel Magalhaes a four-word message after the defender committed his long-term future to the Gunners.

The Brazilian signed a new contract with the Gunners on Friday, keeping him at the club until 2029, football.london understands. Since joining the north Londoners in 2020 Gabriel has gone on to become one of the best central defenders in the Premier League and, in recent years, has formed a solid partnership with William Saliba.

Writing on Instagram on Friday following the announcement he had signed his contract, Gabriel said: "This club means so much to me, it’s been my home since the first day I arrived. I’ve grown a lot here, on and off the pitch, and I’m really proud to keep wearing this shirt.

"Thank you to the club, my teammates, and especially the fans for all the love and support. It’s an honour to fight for this badge every game. Let’s keep going, together. So much more to come! Come on you Gunners!"

Rice was among those to comment on the post. "Fully deserved brother congrats," the Arsenal midfielder wrote.

Gabriel has so far made more than 200 appearances for the club and it will now be hoped he can make many more in the years ahead. "It's an amazing club and I'm so proud to sign a new contract," Gabriel told the official Arsenal website. "I love this club, I love the fans, my teammates, I love this stadium - I'm so proud and thank you for all the support.

"I arrived here as a young player, and [now it’s] almost five years at this club. I'm so happy, and I've learned a lot here. I'm so proud of myself, and as well, to have worn the captain’s armband sometimes in this club.

"I think it's an amazing journey, and I'm so happy to continue this journey. I hope I win some trophies with this club, because I love this club, my family loves it. We've done a lot of good things, and now it's time to win some trophies. I want to say thank you for everything. I love the fans, and I love how they push the team. I think they are so incredible to keep pushing us every single game. We continue together for the future."
