Galatasaray Want Alisson as Muslera Prepares for an Exit
Galatasaray is preparing for changes in their goalkeeping lineup this June. Long time club legend Fernando Muslera is leaving this summer. His contract is ending, and he will be making his way back to Uruguay. As per Mehmet Ozcan of Sabah, Alisson Becker from Liverpool is on top of their list.
The Turkish side is looking for a world class option. Alisson’s place at Liverpool has been in doubts since the Reds signed Giorgi Mamardashvili for €30 million. That is a clear hint that the PL club has begun to plan for life after the Brazilian. So, that gives Galatasaray a small window of hope.
However, this is not going to be a easy chase. There are many top clubs in Europe likely to compete for him.
Taffarel Connection Could Be the Key
Galatasaray has Claudio Taffarel who can help them in their chase. Taffarel is a Brazilian legend who works as a goalkeeping coach for Liverpool. But, he is also a very popular player at Galatasaray. The Turkish side is hoping that Taffarel could help them get Alisson. The club hopes he’ll try to sway the keeper into considering to play in Istanbul.
Taffarel could vouch for Alisson’s mentality and that might help create a level of trust. The main worry is that the keeper has few roadblocks. He is under contract at Anfield until 2027. And he has been a key for Liverpool since 2018. That includes winning the Premier League and UCL, among others.
So, any fee is going to be huge, almost impossible for Galatasaray to afford. In addition, a player of Alisson’s quality will be a big challenge to sign. Also, to convince him to play in the Süper Lig over other top European leagues, will be hard.
